Q: Who is the teacher in the videos?

Deborah Skydell Pasternack, co-founder of The Singing Classroom, creates all our videos. Deborah has taught general music and chorus to grades PreK-8 in both public and private schools. She has a master's degree in Choral Music from the University of Illinois, is Kodály certified, and has training in both Orff and Dalcroze. She produces the musical content for our site and even draws the bunny animations!

Q: What are the ages that corresponded with your recommended grade levels?

A: This table shows the corresponding grade and age for most schools in the U.S., and our recommendations are based on these ages. Generally, children have a birthday during the school year, so at the end of 1st grade, for example, you'd have lots of 7-year olds in class.

Q: Those rabbits are so cute and well-behaved in your animations. They must be a joy to work with!

A: Ha! You should see them when the camera stops rolling. Griping, squabbling, poking each other, eating us out of house and home. Then there’s the constant jockeying over who gets top billing in the next animation: who gets the first turn, who gets to win the game, and who gets to stand facing the camera. It’s ridiculous.
