Sevens

An engaging and lively activity for grades 5-6 that gets the kids involved right away through body percussion. Advanced kids can go at a faster pace when you divide the group into two! Great for reviewing quarter rest or teaching it to older beginners. Also great for teaching the concepts of augmentation and diminution (when you slow down or speed up a melody or theme by a fixed amount.) The video features Gregg Pasternack, the Singing Classroom’s marketing director, who gamely played the role of a fifth grader when Deborah needed a volunteer.
